homeless ministry

“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'" Matthew 25:37-40

That pretty much says it all!

Supporting ministries

Here at Southside, we have several ministries that support our homeless ministry as well as others in need. If you would like to be a part of these ministries, please contact our church office for details.  circleemail

  • Community MEALS

    Sundays

We provide a hot breakfast for those attending services at 9:00 a.m.

    Wednesdays

We provide a hot meal for those attending services at 6:00 p.m.

    Holidays

Every year on Thanksgiving and Christmas day Southside serves the community with a hot, home cooked meal. Southside members and volunteers from around the Greater Jackson Area help by bringing food and by fellowshipping with our honored guests.

  • FOOD PANTRY

Southside feeds 1000's of people each year through our food pantry, and with each person fed, comes an opportunity to spread the Gospel of Jesus. It is through church giving and outside donations that we are able to provide this life changing ministry.

  • SACK LUNCHES

    Daily

From our campus on Raymond road, we provide sack lunches for those in need.

    Tuesday and Wednesday

Each week we have teams going into the community in the morning hours with coffee, pastries, and sack lunches. You are welcome to join us.

  • CLOTHING CLOSET

Our church provides clothing for many homeless each year. More than just clothing, we also provide clean bathrooms and showers. We are helped in doing this through the donations of clothing and toiletries by Southside members, through donations of other area churches, and private donations.
